Photography that celebrates your dog’s story, and your bond with them
From muddy park adventures to quiet mornings on the couch, I photograph your dogs as they actually are, not while they sit still and pose. Whether it's a Barkday, a celebration of life, or just because Tuesday felt like a good excuse, your dog's story deserves to be remembered.
Meet Shirley & Poppy
Poppy is fearless, outdoors-loving, and taught me that the best photos happen when you stop trying to control the moment and just follow the dog. I started ShutterBark Studio because I wanted photos of Poppy enjoying herself outdoors, so she's really my muse!

How I shoot
Every session is built around what your dog actually loves doing: fetch, swimming, sniffing every single bush, or a cafe hop. We go to places that feel natural to you both. I don't ask dogs to sit, stay, or look at the camera. The best photos happen when they've completely forgotten I'm there.

FAQ
Does my dog need to be off-leash?
Not at all! A lot of the dogs I photograph stay leashed during the session. I do my best to edit out leashes and collars afterward, and I can also provide a long leash for peace of mind.
What if my dog is reactive or nervous?
We’ll chat ahead of time to make sure the session is tailored to your dog’s comfort and needs. Everything from the location to how we move through the shoot will be adjusted to suit them. Your dog’s well-being is always the top priority.
My dog hates the camera!
Don’t worry, most dogs aren’t used to having a lens pointed at them (and some find it a little suspicious!).
I’ve been told countless times by pet owners that their dogs might avoid cameras, but they end up always having the best time and giving us great smiles in the end :)
My sessions are super relaxed and fun, with lots of treats, movement, and time for your dog to just be themselves.
I'm afraid I will look awkward in the photos!
I’ll guide you on posing and positioning, but the goal is to keep things natural and fun!
I may prompt questions about your family, get you to do natural poses with your pet (i.e. Paw), or play tug with your pet.
Don't stress - most of the time you will be having so much fun with your pet, you won't know that I'm around ;)
What can I expect in the photoshoot?
Our session will be relaxed and natural, focusing on genuine interactions between you and your pet. Expect a mix of posed and unposed shots, with an emphasis on storytelling and connection.
How this can look like:
- Candid moments of you and your pet, chilling out and people watching
- Playing tug with your pet
- Biking with your pet
You will receive a short photoshoot guide on what to expect, wear, and what not to worry about. We will also discuss and design the photoshoot to you and your pets' personalities!
